CURRICULUM

Developed for Grades K-3

StoryTheater (also available for PK)

Live Arts Education uses children's imaginations and natural storytelling skills to delve deeply into stories that teach us kindness, understanding, and emotional well-being.  Every child experiences anger, differences, and conflict in the classroom and in every day life.  This program can culminate in a class presentation for parents and friends.

Life skills: moral development, teamwork, "good deeds"

SongTheater (available for K-2 or 3-5)
In a fun and creative atmosphere, our teaching staff will work with your students to design and present songs inspired by the organic and creative theatrical work we do in the classroom together!  Students will create their own tunes with our instructor and learn the basics of songwriting.  We have developed this programming in response to client demand and the view that musical skills have been connected to math development in the primary and middle school years.  Every class includes time with a musician in the classroom with a live instrument.  This class is offered at two different levels: grades K-2 and 3-5 .

Jet Set StoryTheater
Travel with us around the world as we explore various cultures, languages, and countries.  Each week focuses on a new culture supported through literature, games, and activities.  Some classes include art projects and vocabulary words from other languages.
Life skills: language, diversity, teamwork, literacy

Safari StoryTheater
Get in on the fun as we discover a new animal each week.  Similar to our "Story Theater Club," this class focuses on science and the environment.  We will learn about different animals from around the world through art projects, games, and books.  Ask us the new facts we've learned as we delve into reptiles, mammals, and even some ancient dinosaurs.
Life skills: science, environmental awareness, literacy

My Part in Art (excellent for older Grades 2-3)
Come join in on a new story each week!  Led by a program leader, students read a new storybook which inspires an art project.  Students experiment with various materials including sand, clay, paints, recycled art, and even edible art!  Each story includes an introduction to a famous artist with projects that support an understanding of their various techniques.
Life skills: motor skills, individuality, art history, literacy, art appreciation

Film Critics (or inquire about our ever popular Movie Masters for grades 3-5)
Each week, we examine reviews of appropriate movies, watch a section of the film, and then spend the rest of the class doing thematically related projects.  Activities may include board games, puzzles, crosswords, bingo, movement games, and themed art projects.  Students learn to think and write critically while developing appreciation for artistic diversity.  Our "reviews" will be on creative display at school!
Life skills: writing, critical thinking, team work
